About Plumbsie
Plumbsie is a new, independent California plumbing guide. We publish cost guides, DIY how-tos, and advice on hiring a licensed plumber. We are not a plumbing company, and we do not employ, dispatch, or vouch for any plumber.
What you'll find here

- How-tos: simple fixes you can safely do yourself, and signs it's time to call a pro
- Hiring advice: how to vet a plumber before you hire
Before you hire any plumber
In California, plumbing jobs above the state's minor-work limit must be done by a contractor licensed in the C-36 (Plumbing) class. Look up any plumber's license number on the Contractors State License Board site, cslb.ca.gov, and confirm it is active. Get written estimates from more than one licensed plumber before agreeing to larger jobs.
